Neighbours Forums connect people online in community life. To assist earthquake community recovery, a network of an initial 17 forums is being started. Find the forum that you identify with most closely and join up.

To get involved with the overall effort, join the long-time Canterbury Issues Forum.

Start-up Neighbours Forums

This is our start-up list of 17 Neighbours Forums that will be opening soon (rough map):

  • Banks Peninsula
  • Lyttelton and Bays
  • Sumner and Mt. Pleasant
  • Woolston
  • New Brighton
  • Linwood
  • Aranui
  • Burwood
  • Marshland
  • St. Albans
  • Christchurch Central (live there, own a business, work)
  • Sydenham
  • Cashmere
  • Riccarton
  • Avonhead
  • Papanui
  • Belfast

The forum's description will further define the geographic scope along with the interests of the people who join.

If you feel a distinct community that should stand alone (the population should be over 5,000 and ideally at least 10,000) needs a forum and are willing to help start it up, drop us a note: team@e-democracy.org

Know of existing local online spaces that connect Christchurch area neighbors in conversation? Add to the list below. The last thing we want to do is create an new online group that no one joins because they are better served elsewhere.

If you know of Facebook Pages, e-mail lists, social networks, place blogs, etc. with critical mass participation covering small areas within Christchurch, please list them here.
