Purpose of the Forum - Short
The purpose of the Cass Lake Leech Lake Issues Forum is to build community across racially, geographically and historically imposed boundaries and barriers and to work toward consensus on issues that affect our many interconnected communities.

This forum is a place to discuss local, public issues and share community announcements using real names with civility. Everyone with an interest in seeing the communities of the Cass Lake Leech Lake area thrive is welcome to be a member.
The goal of the Cass Lake Leech Lake Issues Forum is to provide a neutral, non-threatening place to voice opinions and share our collective wisdom about the many issues faced by our interconnected communities.
By increasing civic participation and encourging more input into solutions to area problems, the Cass Lake Leech Lake forum strives to increase communication between community members and influence political agendas locally and on a broader scale.
Goals
The Goals of the Cass Lake Leech Lake Issues Forum are:
- To build communty and understanding between members across imposed barriers.
- To open discussion about local issues not being addressed adequately in other political or public venues.
- To encourage dialogue and the sharing of knowledge and experience among area residents that might otherwise not take place because of fear of speaking in public, travel expense or other restrictions.
- To influence policy and agenda setting on a variety of levels by encouraging participation from elected officals.
- To provide a billboard for area events.
Typical Topics
Topics that you might find here to discuss include:
- A community issue that needs to be addressed (i.e. How can we organize a communtiy watch program to provide a greater sense of security in our neighborhood?)
- Responses to political decisions affecting those invested in the Cass Lake Leech Lake area.
- An explantion of an issue designed to encourage discussion and a link to a related article or website.
- An invitation to upcoming event; or the posting of a timely obituary.
- Video or photo of a local event or pertinent speaker with an explanation designed to invite discussion and other perspectives.
